6 Fun Things To Do in the Texas Hill Country (Part I)
The Texas Hill Country is one of the most beautiful sections of Texas. Its rolling hills, plains, and rugged terrain are home to a lot of wildlife, and there's a lot to see and do. You can enjoy all of nature's beauty or experience some wonderful man-made attractions, and enjoy the lakes and rivers.
We've put together a list of six things to do in the Texas Hill Country, and we're going to follow up with more lists soon!
1) Enjoy the Water
There are a number of wonderful lakes scattered across the hill country, and it's worth a visit to any that are nearby when you're on vacation. You can go skiing or boarding, take a house boat, or just enjoy a nice relaxing swim or float on a tube. You can even catch some amazing fish! 2) Go Hiking
There are a ton of beautiful hiking trails all over the Hill Country. Some of the views are absolutely breathtaking. If you're up for a long hike, pack a bag and pick a direction, you're sure to have a great time. Be sure to take a camera, as the scenery is amazing and you're certain to see some views you'll want to revisit again and again.
3) Explore Some Caves
If you're up for a real adventure, be sure to check out any one of the many naturally forming caverns. With over 10 caves scattered throughout the Hill Country, there's sure to be one near wherever you decide to take your vacation. See our list of some of the popular Texas Hill Country Caves.
4) Play Some Golf
If you're a fan of golf, there are a lot of excellent golf courses scattered throughout the Texas Hill Country. As a matter of fact, the area is home to some of the best courses in all of Texas.
5) Go Horseback Riding
Whether you're a pro when it comes to riding horses, or you've never sat on a saddle in your life, the Texas Hill Country offers some amazing horseback riding experiences that you have to try if you get a chance. With guided tours, you can learn about the beautiful nature that surrounds you as you explore the pristine landscape.
6) Enjoy Some Wine
Some of the greatest wines in Texas (or maybe even in the country!) are made at wineries located along the Hill Country Wine Trail. Many of the wineries in the area have won prestigious awards, and we encourage you to visit some if you happen to be near any during your getaway.
